href=\"https:\/\/hudson.org.au\/researcher-profile\/graham-jenkin\/\">Professor Graham Jenkin<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/hudson.org.au\/researcher-profile\/euan-wallace\/\">Professor Euan Wallace<\/a>, Ms Burke and Cr Perri inspected the new clinical trials unit, technology platforms, and women\u2019s and baby health hub, before hearing about MHTP stem cell research projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cMHTP is perfectly poised to undertake translational research because of the integration and connectivity of clinicians, researchers, PhD students and patients,\u201d said Ms Burke.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft Burke said she was delighted to hear about MHTP research into cell therapy that may possibly treat five or six different health conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs an Academic Health Science Centre, Monash Partners is well positioned to bring our researchers and clinicians together to facilitate true collaboration and research translation,\u201d said Professor Wallace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hudson.org.au\/researcher-profile\/rebecca-lim\/\">Dr Rebecca Lim<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/hudson.org.au\/researcher-profile\/courtney-mcdonald\/\">Dr Courtney McDonald<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/hudson.org.au\/researcher-profile\/shayanti-mukherjee\/\">Dr Shayanti Mukherjee<\/a>, from The Ritchie Centre, and Head of the Cardiovascular Disease Program in the new Monash Biomedicine Institute, Professor Chris Sobey, each presented their research, highlighting the translational impact of their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Lim explained how her amnion cell biology team at the Ritchie Centre is isolating amnion epithelial cells from placentas for use in regenerative medicine, to develop cell therapies for a multitude of diseases such as <a href=\"https:\/\/hudson.org.au\/disease\/infant-and-child-health\/bronchopulmonary-dysplasia-bpd\/\">bronchopulmonary dysplasia<\/a>, lung and liver fibrosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Courtney McDonald works in the Neurodevelopment and Neuroprotection Research Group at the Ritchie Centre, developing ways of using&nbsp;umbilical cord blood stem cells to reduce <a href=\"https:\/\/hudson.org.au\/disease\/inflammation\/\">inflammation <\/a>and repair brain damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Developing a new cell-based treatment for <a href=\"https:\/\/hudson.org.au\/disease\/reproductive-health-pregnancy\/pelvic-organ-prolapse\/\">Pelvic Organ Prolapse<\/a> using a combination of stem cell therapy and nanotechnology is the focus of Dr Shayanti Mukherjee\u2019s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Chris Sobey&#8217;s research investigates the inflammatory mechanisms occurring in the brain after stroke to find new ways to treat stroke
